New Music Team for Tetbury Community Choir

Choirs have had a difficult time over the last year or more, with lockdowns and ‘rules’ on singing or indeed not singing.  It is therefore with great pleasure that I can announce, along with my partner Anne-Marie Humphries, we will together be forming the new music team for Tetbury Community Choir in Gloucestershire.

Between us (despite not being that old!) we have many years experience of directing, accompanying and singing in choirs of all types and sizes.

The initial role at Tetbury Community Choir was in fact for a Musical Director only and in the past the musical director has always accompanied the choir too.   From time to time, previous choir leaders bought in a pianist at the last minute for concerts and such.  Whilst I am happy to play the piano for my choirs, and indeed currently do for my jazz group, Blue Notes, and always used to for my NHS Choir, for larger groups it is really not very practical.

And so for this reason I agreed with the choir that they should also employ the services of Anne-Marie Humphries.  Anne-Marie and I have run choirs together before and we also perform together most days under the guise of JAM Duo (Cello and Piano) – where Anne-Marie is in fact the Cellist and I am the pianist.

We are both really looking forward to the challenges which lie ahead and can’t wait to start working with the choir at our first rehearsal with them this evening.
