On the rare occasion that I am not busy out recording on location, producing the latest album in my studio, composing some music for one of my many clients, or directing the Pewsey Belles I can sometimes be found at the Magdalen Chapel in Bath where I am the assistant organist.
For the last few years the chapel has had a choir largely made up of willing volunteers who are called upon, usually at the last minute, to help sing at choral evensong or festival service of one kind or another. It has therefore been decided it would be better to make the choir a more formal gathering and so we are holding an open day to encourage potential new choir members to come and find out about the choir.
The open day is on Saturday 19th May from around 10.30am and will give people an opportunity to hear the choir, such as it currently is as well as a chance to do some singing with the choir. We aren’t looking for hundreds of people, but a core of between 8 and 16 singers would enable us to tackle slightly more challenging repertoire as well as singing more regularly at the chapel.
Hello, unfortunately I am away on Saturday but was interested to read about the Choir. I have never sung in a Choir but love sacred music. How good does one have to be at singing? Would I need to be able to read music (I can’t)!
Thank you. I look forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards
